The Volkswagen Tayron bridges the gap between the Tiguan and the Touareg in the lineup. Although its official release is scheduled for March 2025, Volkswagen has already revealed its pricing. Starting at €49,800, this seven-seater SUV offers a premium experience and replaces the Tiguan Allspace, promising enhanced features and a more sophisticated design.
A Standalone Model with Distinct Features
Unlike its predecessor, the Tayron isn’t just a stretched version of the Tiguan. Measuring 4.80 meters in length, it stands taller and broader than the Tiguan (4.54 meters) and even the Tiguan Allspace (4.73 meters). Despite sharing the MQB Evo platform and engine options, the Tayron boasts a completely redesigned body and a more upscale interior, filled with advanced technology and luxurious touches.
Electrified Engines and Diesel Option Coming Soon
At launch, the Tayron will offer three engines paired with six- or seven-speed DSG automatic transmissions and four trim levels.
- 1.5 eTSI Mild Hybrid (150 hp): Available in a seven-seater configuration.
- Plug-in Hybrids (PHEV):
- 204 hp
- 272 hp (offering up to 26 km in full-electric mode with a 19.7 kWh battery).
However, due to the placement of the fuel tank in the rear floor, PHEV models are limited to five seats. A 2.0 TDI diesel engine (150 hp) is expected by December 2024.

Higher Pricing Compared to Competitors
The Tayron’s entry-level price of €49,800 places it above many rivals, such as:
- Peugeot 5008 (from €40,490 for a mild-hybrid 136 hp engine).
- Renault Espace (from €45,000 for the 200 hp hybrid).
However, the Tayron justifies its premium pricing with superior technology and a more refined driving experience.
