NASCAR Cup Series – Pennzoil 400 Spotlight

The Pennzoil 400 presented by Jiffy Lube will mark the 35th NASCAR Cup Series race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway since 1998. This prestigious event carries a substantial purse of $11,055,250, attracting the sport’s top talent.

Key Storylines to Watch

Christopher Bell enters the weekend as one of the season’s hottest drivers, having won three of the first four races in 2025—a feat accomplished by only three other drivers in NASCAR history. Bell has also secured the pole position for three of the last five races on 1.5-mile tracks, including the most recent Las Vegas race.

Interestingly, Las Vegas poses a unique challenge for pole-sitters. Only Kyle Busch in 2009 has won a Cup Series race at Las Vegas from the pole position—and even then, he technically started from the rear due to an engine change. Another peculiar Las Vegas statistic: no driver who has led the first lap has ever gone on to win in the track’s 34-race Cup Series history.

Joey Logano brings his own set of storylines to Vegas. He’s led 207 laps in 2025—the most by any driver without a top-10 finish through four races. As the defending champion, Logano is also the first title holder to start a season without a top-10 in the first four races of the following year.

The 2025 Cup Series season has already produced a record-breaking 142 lead changes in the first four races, suggesting fans can expect more of the same competitive racing this weekend.

Drivers to Watch

Kyle Larson has been nearly unstoppable at Las Vegas recently, winning two of the last three Cup Series races at the track. His 629 laps led at the speedway rank second all-time, behind only Kevin Harvick’s 679. Hendrick Motorsports as a team has dominated Las Vegas, winning five of the last eight races and the spring race for four consecutive seasons.

Seven active drivers have won pole positions at Las Vegas, with Christopher Bell and Joey Logano leading the way with three poles each. Eight active drivers have won Cup Series races at the track, with Logano’s four victories tops among current competitors.

Active Pole Winners: Christopher Bell (3), Joey Logano (3), Kyle Busch (2), Tyler Reddick (1), Erik Jones (1), Ryan Blaney (1), Brad Keselowski (1)

Active Race Winners: Joey Logano (4), Brad Keselowski (3), Kyle Larson (3), William Byron (1), Alex Bowman (1), Denny Hamlin (1), Kyle Busch (1)

NASCAR Xfinity Series – The LiUNA!

The LiUNA! will be the 36th NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway since 1997. This race serves as a qualifier for the 2025 Dash4Cash, where the top four eligible drivers will compete for a $100,000 prize at Homestead-Miami Speedway on March 22. The race offers a total purse of $1,651,939.

Race Highlights

Las Vegas has featured remarkable parity in recent years, with six different drivers winning the last six races and five different teams winning the last five events. Austin Hill (February 2023) is the only current Xfinity Series Las Vegas winner in this weekend’s field.

Justin Allgaier holds the distinction of most second-place finishes (4), top-5s (11), stage wins (3), and laps led (330) at Las Vegas among current participants—yet he’s still searching for his first victory at the track.

An interesting trend has emerged in recent years: each of the last eight Las Vegas races has been won by a driver starting eighth or further back in the field. Meanwhile, Richard Childress Racing is on the verge of a milestone, as their next victory will be their 100th in the NASCAR Xfinity Series.

NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series – Ecosave 200

The Ecosave 200 will be the 33rd NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway since 1996, with a total purse of $782,900.

Key Storylines

The Truck Series has seen tremendous variety at Las Vegas, with six different winners in the last six races from 2020-2024. Starting position has proven crucial, as 11 times the race winner has started from the pole or first position—more than at any other track.

Rajah Caruth made history last year by becoming the 12th driver to earn his first pole position and first win in the same event at Las Vegas. This weekend, he’ll attempt to become the first driver in series history to win consecutive Truck races at Las Vegas.

Matt Crafton will reach a significant milestone this weekend, making his 200th start on a 1.5-mile track.

Track History and Special Guests

Las Vegas Motor Speedway began as a vision in 1995, with construction completed in June 1996 on a 1,600-acre site north of Las Vegas Boulevard. The facility underwent significant renovations in 2006, including the addition of the Neon Garage and progressive banking in the turns (increased from 12 to 20 degrees).

This weekend’s festivities will feature some special guests. Oscar-winning actor Morgan Freeman will serve as the Grand Marshal for Sunday’s Pennzoil 400, while WWE Women’s United States Champion Chelsea Green will be the honorary pace car driver.

As the NASCAR world descends on Las Vegas this weekend, fans can expect thrilling competition across all three national series at one of motorsport’s most exciting venues.
